Valentine’s Day Card

Here’s a simple and fast Valentine’s Day card I made for my Husband this year. In my case I’m only making one of these cards every year, so it’s something I put a little thought into and it’s been fun creating them.

This one started with a basic light blue cardstock and then I topped it with a piece of red cardstock I cut hearts from with my Silhouette. A six pack of hearts to be exact.  I used the cutouts to place around my house a couple years ago with little “I love you” sentiments written on them. I hid them in his lunch box, near the morning cereal, on his keyboard, etc. Just a little fun!  Anyway I had stashed the leftover outline of those hearts because it was just too cute. So I was digging through my scraps of red paper and found it this year; turns out it was time to use that piece of red cardstock with the heart cutouts.

I used a silver pen to draw polka dots on the red paper and give it a little more dimension.

Next I used 1.5″ pink, cardstock circles and squares for the XOXO. I cut the squares into the X’s and punched 1″ pink floral patterned paper to make the center of the O’s. The letters go from edge to edge of the blue card rather than living inside the bounds of the red cardstock.

All in all, this was a pretty fast card to create and I really like how it turned out. I don’t think it’s too girly but it IS very Valentiney.
