Run Tags off Edge of Page

Run your tags and journaling blocks off the edge of your layout. This makes a lot of use of the edge of your layout as well as giving the eye a moment to pause while viewing your page.

On this “Valentine’s Tulips” layout I used a tag that I butted against the edge of the background paper and overlapped the corner of the color block beneath the title. This gives the eye a place to see where to begin reading my title. There are pops of pink all over the rest of the layout from the tulips in the photos to the color blocks I chose so the differently colored tag draws your eye there.

On the “Matthew, Take Me Dude” layout, I used a journaling block from a pad and just butted it against the top edge of the background paper. Nearly all the other elements on this layout are attached within the confines of the edges of the background paper, but that journaling block provides an interruption from the framed look. The only other interruption is the tab to grab and flip the photo to see more photos underneath. It is another place I want people to notice so they can interact with my page.

Getting the embellishment to line up perfectly is easy. All you need to do is adhere it with a slight overlap and then pick up the entire layout, turn it over and trim off the excess with a pair of straight scissors. By turning the layout over to view it from the back you can see exactly where the background paper edge is and follow it with your scissors.

Easy as pie!
