Embellish Your Embellishments

When I see an embellishment that I just love but I think, “if only…” then I get it anyway because I know I can alter it somehow to be just what I want.

On this “By the Sea” layout, I used an older style embellishment as the title but it truly looked too plain once I got it on the page. So I added a few things to make it tie in with the rest of my page as well as the rest of my album.

First, I added the striped paper strip on the bottom which coordinates with other pages in the album. Then I cut a length of punched, white cardstock flower chain border – again more of that is in the rest of the album. Finally, I had made a slew of stamped embellishments to use throughout the album and so I just popped one on the upper left corner of the title.

If you have an embellishment that isn’t quite exactly what you would want on your page, then use your creative skills to change it to fit.

This way, you won’t find yourself scouring the scrapbook shop to find something else to buy. Use what you have people!
