Journaling Pad – Use the Back side

Want some fun shaped journaling blocks? There are many journaling pads available now with cute shapes, fun edges and printed designs and lines on which to write.

Sometimes the printed images or colors contrast too greatly with your layout or worse – the printed lines meant for writing upon go the opposite direction than you want for your journaling on your layout.

The solution is simple. I have found it useful that the backside of those cute journaling blocks in the pad is white. This really increases the usability of those pads. On these two layouts “Polar Buddy” and “Ring” I have used pages from a journaling pad but I have used the backside – the white side.

I inked the edges of the journaling blocks to coordinate perfectly with my layouts and you can see that I have used two different colors for these two layouts. Beneath the Polar Buddy title is one of the journal blocks which I used merely to highlight my pastel alphabet title. Then on the Ring layout, I used the journaling block for journaling. I love to have the scalloped and curvy bracket lines of the journaling blocks but with my custom colors….so easy!

This was a great find for me as I started reconsidering the journaling pads (as well as tag pads) I have in my stash for use on any layout I create regardless of color or theme. If the printed colors or images work, then I can use that side of the embellishment. However if it does not, then I just alter it to fit my needs and slap that puppy on my layout and to get it done in a flash!

Do you have journaling pads, tag pads, die cuts, etc. with white sides that you can customize for your use?
